Thoughts to Take With You… 💞
How many of us edit while writing first drafts? (You can’t see, but I’m raising my hand.)
If you have perfectionist tendencies like me, you know the process of writing, deleting, re-writing, then fiddling with it more. A brainstorm, in writing and beyond, should be viewed with a sense of non-seriousness. The first draft is not supposed to be the best thing beheld by humans – it’s a way to dump your ideas, so you can mine the gold later.
The next time you’re writing or brainstorming, I ask you: Can you allow the ideas to flow uninhibited before applying the filter of perfection?

Don’t ask me how I get here, but I’m listening to Genome: The Autobiography of a Species In 23 Chapters by Matt Ridley.Â
While I don’t exactly understand everything in the book, it’s still so interesting to hear about the jobs genetics plays in our lives. (I would give examples, but I know I’d surely butcher the science.)
The moral of the story is: try reading/listening to something beyond your current interests. Who knows? You may spark a new interest!
