Hi all –

I’m happy you’re here reading! Ready for the digital marketing scoop?

SEO & SAIO

  • In a separate but related SearchGPT story, it is expected that SearchGPT will be integrated into ChatGPT by the end of this year. This article focuses on news content and journalism but we wonder if sources that don’t opt-in will be excluded, and what impact that will have on the reliability of news and information.
  • How might the DOJ Antitrust case against Google affect SEO? Alli Berry in Search Engine Journal thinks that Apple has the potential to disrupt the search space with its resources. Our thoughts: yes, Apple has the resources, but does it have the time and want? Apple is known to keep their products in testing while others pop out new technologies (maybe before they’re truly ready). It might take Apple a considerable amount of time to enter and truly be competitive with the search giant.

Do Good Spotlight: Wayback Machine 🌠

This nonprofit is building a digital library of internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. It’s fabulous when you need to reference an older version of a website. The kicker is that they allow you to do it for free. See more about what they do and how you can help: The Wayback Machine.

Digital Marketing

  • Looking at paid ads activity in other channels, Unbounce captured Median Landing Page Conversion Rates by Industry. Take these conversion rates as directional only as there are a lot of factors impacting landing page success, including the paid traffic source and the objective of the ads (top-funnel, mid-funnel, or bottom-funnel).
  • Not a super shocker, but Gen Z spends a lot more time on socials than the rest of the population. But what surprised me is that EMarketer believes more GenZ users will be on Instagram over TikTok by 2028. You can delve into more U.S. Digital Usage facts here.
  • This title caught my eye: “3 ways retailers are missing revenue opportunities.” What are they, you ask?
    • Accessibility – Some brands don’t take accessibility into account as much as they should… leaving visually impaired users to go elsewhere for their needs.
    • Promotions – Excessive discounting could be a disadvantage when some consumers are ready to pay full-price.
    • Checkout – If the checkout process is too hard, the abandoned carts will stack up!

Super simple fixes could make a big difference!

Thoughts to Take With You… 💞

“We’re sunshine and snowstorm

We’re clear lines and freeform

I’m fast paced, you’re slow burn

I’m glad that we’re different, now we have more to learn, yeah

If you need room to grow

You just call and let me know

I am here to understand

With my heart in my hand, yeah” 🎶

Allen Stone + Swatkins have it right in their beautifully melodic and heartfully messaged song, “More to Learn.”

Yes, we are different. That’s okay. It means there will always be more to learn. 🙂

Until next time,

Natalie

Why Leaves Change Color P.S.

You wanna know why? Here’s the answer from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry:

“…in the fall, because of changes in the length of daylight and changes in temperature, the leaves stop their food-making process. The chlorophyll breaks down, the green color disappears, and the yellow to orange colors become visible and give the leaves part of their fall splendor.”

Enjoy the view if you’re in the color-changing season!
