Bottom line: nothing significant will change in the short term. Long term, it could lead “to a more competitive search market, (so) you might need to optimize for multiple search engines, not just Google.” Note: White-hat strategies (like ours) are designed to work across multiple search engines.
- Speaking of Google’s AI Overviews, there is now evidence that “the sources cited in Google AI Overviews match one or more of the web pages from the top 10 Google organic search results 99.5% of the time.” This is a significant change from Search Generative Experience (SGE) and its cited sources were different from the top 10 Google organic results 93.8% of the time. Why the abrupt turn around? Google is likely trying to establish more authority and trustworthiness to its AI Overviews responses by incorporating more traditional search ranking signals.

Each year, Hockey Helps Inc. hosts a 24 Hours of Hockey Marathon on Labor Day weekend. They’ve raised over $6 million for local charities including North Shore Holiday House, Soulful Living for Recovery, Smilezone Foundation USA, and F.R.I.E.N.N.D.S. of Northport. We all probably have a negative connotation with the words, “carbon dioxide”. We think of pollution, waste, poison… but let’s also not forget all the good it does. It helps plants grow and is an integral part of human functioning.
Many times when we find something with a “bad” association, it gets sorted into a “bad” box in our minds, making it impossible to see in another light. Yes, too much of anything is not great in too high of quantities (like work or sugar). Let us ask the questions… Are we judging these things too harshly? If yes, how would our relationship with it change if we struck a better balance with it?
