Welcome to the latest issue of What’s Hot Wednesday for Marketers.
We found some interesting information to pass along this week including news about a fast-growing video sharing app, many new advertising opportunities on social media, and a guide to Google Assistant capabilities.
Here is what we are buzzing about this week:
TikTok Video Sharing App
The most downloaded social media app last month wasn’t Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat. Instead, it was a lesser-known video sharing app called TikTok.
TikTok was formerly known as Musical.ly, which was rebranded after being acquired by Chinese company Bytedance last year. The newly merged audiences had a surge of over 30 million users over the past three months.
New Ad Opportunities in Social Media
As social media platforms continue to grow and evolve, the one thing is that seems to be universal for marketers is the desire for an increase in advertising opportunities. In just the past few weeks, Instagram began testing promoted Stories ads for business accounts, Pinterest rolled out a carousel ad format, What’s App introduced ads in What’s App Status, and Amazon is testing a retargeting advertising program that allows advertisers to use search queries to retarget ads across the web.
Complete Guide to Google Assistant
Google is putting more emphasis on its smart speaker products and Google Assistant is shaping up to be one of the most important Google products in the years ahead. It is already more pervasive and more advanced than you might have realized!
