What’s Hot Wednesday 10/17/18

Posted on Oct 17, 2018

Welcome to the latest issue of What’s Hot Wednesday for Marketers.

We found some interesting information to pass along this week including news about a new native-ad format in the Google Discover feed, an unlikely social media success story, and the use of live streaming video by marketers.

Here is what we are talking about this week:

Google Launces Native-Ad Test in Google Discover

As Google recently redesigned its newsfeed, now called Google Discover, it is also testing a new native-ad format in the section. The native ads will have the look and feel of the redesigned organic news cards and the same ad label positioning next to the headlines as traditional text ads in Google search results. The new ad format offers marketers another opportunity to reach Google users, particularly on mobile.

Instagram Success Story: New York Public Library

Leveraging social media is a tricky challenge for many brands but particularly for an entity that operates in an off-line world such as a public library. The New York Public Library is an example of an organization that is taking a novel approach to social media to strengthen its brand and build a true digital community. The library is using Instagram stories to transform classics into visual shorts called Insta Novels.

Using Live Streaming Video on Social Media

Live video is an increasingly popular way for marketers to promote their business, connect with their audience, and allow the audience to get to know them. Although live broadcasting can be intimidating, some advance planning and practice can help make the process more seamless. Here are 7 tips to help guide the process of going live on platforms like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter: https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/7-tips-for-going-live-on-facebook-instagram-or-twitter/539632/
