This week’s What’s Hot Wednesday for Marketers includes news about the launch of shoppable image ads from Google, advertising opportunities on Twitter, and DBE’s perspective on the value of Facebook advertising.
Read below to find out what the team at DBE is talking about this week.
Google Launches Shoppable Image Ads
In a recent survey, Google discovered that one-third of holiday shoppers search for images before shopping for ideas and inspiration. Google is introducing a new ad unit called shoppable image ads to capitalize on that behavior. The ads will initially be displayed on curated content from Google’s publishing partners and eventually will be added to image search results.
Advertising on Twitter
When most marketers think of advertising on social media, they think of Facebook and Instagram. While Twitter has lagged behind in advertising dollars, its active base of 328 million users worldwide presents tremendous opportunity. As Twitter is evolving its advertising program, DBE recently sat down with the sales team from Twitter to get a comprehensive update on the changes.

The Value of Facebook Advertising
A recent NPR segment raised the question of whether Facebook really works for advertisers. Companies often find it difficult to assess the value of social media marketing as they may not necessarily see a direct action taken from a Facebook ad. While there is no guarantee of success on any advertising platform, DBE has used Facebook as an effective advertising platform for our clients since its inception.
